Help with Opening and Closing Camp

Time and an extra pair of hands are equally as important as financial contributions. Each year, we get together at camp to prepare for the upcoming season during our work weekends. Not only is it a great chance to visit camp in the 'offseason’ and breathe in the fresh air, but you are helping a worthy cause!

Opening camp in the spring involves lots of odd jobs – erecting the tents, cleaning, blowing leaves, weed-whacking, power washing, staining the dock or cabins, installing fire extinguishers, replacing light bulbs, making small repairs, etc.

Closing camp is similar but opposite! Work weekend dates will be listed here and on the calendar once available.

Join Our Board

Camp Ma-He-Tu is organized by a volunteer board of directors. The board works year-round to support each exciting summer deep in the woods. Many board members were once campers and staff members at Ma-He-Tu, as well as parents and guardians of campers.

We are always looking for passionate members of our community to take on the important role of running camp from behind the scenes! Our volunteers manage a LOT of tasks throughout the year including, but not limited to – camper registration and payment processing, staying up to date with the department of health requirements and health information, camper recruitment, budgeting and finance, fundraising, marketing, strategic planning, staff hiring, food service management, and more.

If any of this sounds exciting to you – please reach out to our Board President, Janet "Igoe" Paddack, at igoe@mahetu.org to get involved!
